Case Study of Excellent Client Service

This major Swindon based client had de-merged from the main sister brand and were trading as a separate quoted company, when they had the need to recruit a Commercial Accountant.

The brief for the role was focused very heavily on the person fit, rather than on the technical aspects of the role. The previous incumbent had been in situ for several years, but had decided to relocate, giving the client the opportunity to completely redefine the role. The Client required the new person to have the credibility and gravitas to deal with non-finance staff within the marketing department on a daily basis and to be the finance representative for that team. There would be two reporting lines for this person, one to the sister company’s Commercial Finance Manager and one to the Commercial Director, who was a professional marketer and not an accountant.

The Consultant met with the client after taking a full job brief over the telephone and presented them, in the meeting, with the details of five relevant candidates that had been identified in line with the initial brief. Having met with each of the candidates beforehand, the consultant was able to discuss their respective backgrounds and offer suggestions on where he felt each could add value in respect of their personalities. The client was happy to take the recommendations on each candidate and gave the consultant the opportunity to work the role on an exclusive agency basis even though this was the first time we had recruited for them.
